I sure seem to lose a lot.

Well, I didn’t even make the top ten in the sticker competition.  I’m kinda bummed about it too as I really thought I had a chance - and personally, dammit, I quite liked my design!!  I think the worst of it, though, is seeing how ho-hum and kinda generic the finalists are.  I’m obviously bitter, biased and jaded… but it’s always easier to lose a competition when you have clearly been outplayed.

I still get to chalk one up into the win column - kinda/sorta - in a bit of an odd twist to my week.

I doubt anyone here will remember but; about 6 years ago, I tried to make an appointment to meet a local, well-established, well known artist.  His receptionist told me (very rudely) not to even bother coming by.  At the time, it really bothered me to have this door slammed so hard into my face.  Why I say that some people might remember is this - it was really interesting that when I looked up the thread where I posted about it on ab.com, there were some of the same people I continue to converse with to this day offering support and advice.  And, oddly enough, I’m really proud to say that one of the most supportive people I’ve encountered (from within months of picking up an airbrush for the first time) was…  well… Leahy.  Go figure.

ANYWAYS… to get back on topic here...

The artist (the one I was trying to meet) sent me a message a few days ago asking me if I would possibly be interested in working with him on a freelance basis.  *In his defense, he obviously knew nothing of my failed attempt to introduce myself those many years ago.*  I was tempted to take the high road and not bring up my blocked interaction… tempted.  But the little devil on my shoulder won out on this one and I couldn’t help myself.

I told him I really enjoy that type of work and look forward to hearing what he had in mind!  And then pointed out that…  well…  Let’s just say I think I managed to salvage some dignity and class, preserve the possibility of working together in the future (I think) - and still put an ear to ear smile on my face.

So… Apparently, I do get my small victories too!

On the 'work' front...  I'm officially swamped.  All small stuff but more parts than room for them in my little paint room.  I did have a chance to spend some time cleaning up my Mad Hatter painting in the computer.  I really think this might be my favorite painting...

Thanks for reading!!!  Hope you've had a good week!
